New classes for 2010-2011 school year
We are going to open some new classes in the coming school year, you are welcomed to register.
1) Adult and youth CSL: the class is specially designed for students of age 12 and older, whose native language is not Chinese or Mandarin Chinese.
2) Huangmei Opera - adult class: to teach the most popular Huangmei songs and dances such as those from the famous movies [Goddess Marriage] and [Flowers Raining from Heaven], etc.
3) Huangmei Opera – children’s class: to teach basic singing and dancing skills of Huangmei Opera and to develop children’s interest in traditional Chinese folk music and dance. Class time: 9:30-10:20.
4) Youth Ballroom Dance: to teach high school students ballroom dance.

新学年我们将开设几门新课，欢迎大家报名参加。
1）青少年及成人特别班：本班对象为不会中文或国语（普通话）的青少年及成人（年龄为12岁及以上）
2）成人黄梅歌舞班：传授广为流传的经典唱段和舞蹈如《天仙配》,《天女散花》等，让喜爱中国民族文化艺术的家长自娱自乐，载歌载舞愉悦身心
3）少儿黄梅歌舞班：教孩子黄梅歌舞和民族歌舞，及根据孩子的特点教一些易学易唱的民歌，教发声，用气等声乐知识; 上课时间：9:30-10:20.
4）高中社交舞班：教高中孩子社交舞蹈

New Graduates 2010
Our school had 11 students participated the Huaxia Chinese School Graduation Exam, and they all passed. Congratulations to them!

Next School Year Registration Starts
Next school year registration starts on this Saturday (05/22). Please use online registration through school website www.hxsouth.org. 05/22-06/19 is early registration period, no registration fee; 06/20-08/14 is normal registration period, $15 registration fee; on or after 08/15 is late registration period, $15 registration fee plus additional $20 late fee. There is $15 service fee per family for paper registration.
TA application begins at the same time. Please download the TA application form from this website and send your filled form to TAapplication@hxsouth.org.

Participate in Community Fundraising Event
On Saturday (04/10), five students and TAs from our school volunteered in the fund raising event held at Marlboro Recreational Center for Marlboro Memorial Day Parade. They helped cook in the kitchen and sell food from the kitchen. We thank the volunteers for their time and efforts.

Community Service to the Senior Center
On 04/05, some teachers, students and parents from our school performed several wonderful dances and songs for the seniors at Pleasant Valley Adult Care Center. This is part of our school’s commitment to community service. We appreciate their time and efforts.

Chinese Language Course Credit in FRHSD
Starting from now, our students can get credits from all high schools in Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD). The students need to fill an application form in the high schools (can be done online) and then take ACTEF OPI assessment. After they pass the assessment, they can get at least 5 credits. Chinese New Year Presentation to some Marlboro Schools
At the invitation of Marlboro Township Public Schools, Yonghong Jia, Huiqing Luan, Mei Xie and Chongjin Xie from our school went to Marlboro elementary school, Robertville elementary school and Asher Holmes elementary school to give presentations on Chinese New Year on 02/08. The presentations were well received by the students and teachers.

YCT Test Results Out
YCT test results have come out. We had 104 students participated the test, 102 students passed the test, and among them 2 students got full credits. Great Job!

About Chinese Course Credit in FRHSD
Good News: We are still working with Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD) on this issue, but starting from next school year, our students may can get credits from all high schools in FRHSD. The students need to take ACTEF OPI assessment at their school. After they pass the assessment, they can get at least 5 credits. We will keep you updated.

Our School on Marlboro Multi-Cultural Day
On Nov.15 Marlboro Multi-Cultural Day, both our school booth for exhibition and “Qipao Show” for stage performance received very good feedbacks. We thank all the participants for their contributions.

We had more than 110 students attended YCT on Saturday Nov.14. Hope all the students did good. Thank all the parents and teachers for your support.

New Classes are open for registration
We are considering opening two new cultural classes, Chinese Chess and Performing Art. The Chinese Chess class will be taught by Jerry Wang, a famous Chinese Chess player in New Jersey, who won many prizes on Chinese Chess. The Performing Art class will be taught by Zhiying Ma, a former famous movie director in China. The two classes are now open for registration.
